Dr. Andrew May is a Research Fellow in the Design School at Loughborough University and Director of the PhD/MPhil programme. He holds an MSc in Human Factors from University College London and a PhD from Loughborough University, focusing on user value in mobile location services. His research emphasizes applying scientific principles to user-centered design of technologies and services, spanning automotive, construction, emergency response, and smart home domains. He leads the Design School’s postgraduate research training and advocates for inclusive and innovative service design.

Research Interests: Andrew’s work addresses challenges in service design across mobility (e.g., MaaS), safety-critical systems, and inclusive technologies. Advising & Grants: As PhD/MPhil Director, Andrew oversees postgraduate research training. His grants and collaborations focus on applied design research, including studies on smart home technology adoption, MaaS accessibility, and emergency response systems. He actively supervises students in service design, human factors, and technology adoption.
