Andrew Martin is a Scientia Professor and Professor of Educational Psychology at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), leading the Educational Psychology Research Group in the School of Education (Arts, Design & Architecture faculty). He holds an Honorary Research Fellowship at the University of Oxford's Department of Education. His expertise spans student motivation, engagement, learning, and achievement, with interdisciplinary research extending to sport, music, and workplace settings.
Education: BA (Hons) in Psychology, MEd (Hons) in Educational Psychology, PhD in Educational Psychology.
Research focuses on motivation theories, academic buoyancy, adaptability, and instructional strategies like Load Reduction Instruction (LRI). Key contributions include the Motivation and Engagement Wheel framework and the Academic Demands-Resources (ACD-R) model. His work bridges educational psychology with biopsychological and technological advancements, leveraging mobile technology and AI to enhance learning outcomes.
