Andrew Lewis serves as a Visiting Professor in the School of Engineering and Materials Science at Queen Mary University of London while maintaining active industry leadership as R&D Director at Owen Mumford Ltd. With 30 years of industrial R&D experience across major corporations (ICI, Johnson & Johnson, Boston Scientific) and specialized medical device firms, he leads a team of 67 engineers in developing next-generation drug delivery systems.
His educational background includes a BSc and PhD, complemented by professional credentials CChem, CSi, and multiple fellowships. Lewis specializes in translating biomedical innovations from bench to bedside, with particular expertise in:
- Engineering biocompatible implant surfaces
- Modulating active agent delivery for cardiovascular and cancer therapies
- Developing integrated drug-device combination products
- Optimizing manufacturability and sterilization protocols
