Andrew Leventis

Andrew Leventis is an Associate Professor of Painting in the Department of Art & Art History at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He holds an MFA in Fine Arts from Goldsmiths College, University of London; an MA in Fine Art from Wimbledon College of Art, University of the Arts London; and a Bachelor of Fine Art in Painting from the American Academy of Art, Chicago.

His research focuses on contemporary vanitas themes, blending meticulously detailed oil paintings with iconography reflecting queer identity. Leventis has exhibited internationally at venues including the Museum of Contemporary Art Krakow, the Mint Museum Uptown, and the Venice Arsenale. He co-curated major exhibitions such as 'Nature Morte: Contemporary Artists Reinvigorate the Still Life Tradition' (2022) and 'Forever Transient' (2024), and co-founded a partnership with Goodyear Arts to showcase UNC Charlotte art students. Recent roles include a McColl Center Artist Residency (2024) and co-curation of the 60 Years Alumni Exhibition (2024).

Leventis' work is represented by SOCO Gallery, and he actively contributes to academic and community initiatives through curatorial leadership and educational collaborations.
