Andrew Laurence Cavanagh is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Management within Monash Business School at Monash University, Australia. He joined the department in July 2014 after completing his PhD at Monash University. In addition to his teaching role, he serves as the Teaching Associates Coordinator for the Department of Management.
Research Interests: Cavanagh’s scholarship sits at the intersection of international business, business history, and management education. His work explores how multinational enterprises manage foreign direct investment and how subsidiary-headquarters relationships evolve over time. He is particularly interested in subsidiary autonomy, initiative-taking, and the strategic alignment of organizational structures with leadership styles.
Publications Overview: His recent peer-reviewed articles (2018-2023) demonstrate a consistent focus on strategic processes within multinational corporations, servant leadership, and innovative pedagogical approaches to management education. These contributions appear in leading journals such as Academy of Management Learning and Education, Global Strategy Journal, and Personnel Review.
Teaching & Supervision: Cavanagh currently coordinates and teaches the undergraduate unit MGF2351 International Business and supervises Honours and Masters students in international business and related fields.
