Andrew L. Sorenson

Dr. Andrew L. Sorenson is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of California, Berkeley School of Optometry. He serves as Medical & Surgical Director of the Refractive Surgery Center and Chief of Ophthalmology at Alta Bates Medical Center in Berkeley. His expertise includes refractive surgery (LASIK, PRK, PTK, Wavefront-guided treatments), corneal transplantation, and cataract surgery. He is also involved in international eye care initiatives in Guatemala.

• Educations: BA from Stanford University, MD from UC San Diego, Ophthalmology Residency at California Pacific Medical Center, and a Cornea/Refractive Surgery Fellowship at Duke University Eye Center.

His research focuses on advancing refractive surgery techniques and patient care. He received the Duke Eye Center Hornaday Fellow Award for excellence in patient care and resident education.

Dr. Sorenson leads his family’s comprehensive ophthalmology practice in the East Bay Area, established since 1952, alongside his father and brother. He actively contributes to surgical training and residency education programs.
