Andrew Kurt Thaw is a Professor of Psychology and Associate Dean of Science at Millsaps College, where he has served for 25 years. His research focuses on behavioral neuroscience, particularly the factors regulating hunger, satiety, taste responses, and gut-brain interactions. He holds a Ph.D. in Neuroscience from Florida State University, with postdoctoral training at the University of Virginia (1994–1996) and Cornell Medical School (1997–1998).
Teaching focuses include neuroscience, learning, research methods, and an intriguing interest in serial killers. He received the Millsaps Distinguished Professor Award in 2022. His recent publications explore telehealth weight loss frameworks and IL-1beta’s role in feeding behaviors. Beyond academia, he enjoys extreme adventures like running with bulls in Pamplona and motorcycle riding.
