Andrew Kirkendall is a Professor of History at Texas A&M University, where he has taught Latin American and World History since 1997. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina (1996). His research focuses on Latin America, Brazil, and Inter-American Relations, with a particular emphasis on Cold War politics, educational history, and political culture. He has authored three major monographs analyzing Brazilian political formation, Cold War literacy campaigns, and liberal democratic alliances in Latin America. In 2007, he received the College-Level Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching from the Association of Former Students of Texas A&M University.
