Andrew Johnstone

Andrew Johnstone is a Research Fellow at the University of Wollongong's School of Mechanical, Materials, Mechatronic and Biomedical Engineering, within the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences. He holds a PhD from the same university and has been affiliated with the ARC Steel Research Hub since 2016. His research focuses on improving metallic coating uniformity via numerical methods and laboratory studies, with prior work in renewable energy technologies leveraging ocean currents.

Andrew's expertise spans turbulent flows, ocean engineering, and energy generation. His current projects address unsteady air jet impacts on coating processes, numerical modeling of fluid-structure interactions, and optimizing hydrokinetic turbine performance. He has contributed to advancing energy harvesting from marine currents and improving sacrificial metallic coating techniques for steel products.
