Andrew James Williams is an Epidemiologist and Statistician, currently serving as Senior Lecturer in Public Health at the Division of Population and Behavioural Science, School of Medicine, University of St Andrews. He also holds an Honorary Senior Lecturer position at the University of Exeter since March 2020. His work focuses on social and cultural determinants of health, particularly for children and adolescents, using administrative and secondary data.
Williams applies complexity theory and salutogenesis to public health improvement, with active collaborations in TR14ers community youth dance group and NIHR-funded 'Is 20 plenty for health?' project. He teaches ecological public health, global public health, and evaluation at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
His research outputs emphasize systematic reviews and in-depth case studies in adolescent health, sleep behavior, and community interventions. Williams contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health inequalities and wellbeing, with current MRC-funded research on adolescent health data collection tools.
