Associate Professor Andrew J GIFFORD is a diagnostic Paediatric Pathologist at Randwick Campus and Clinical Research Fellow at Children's Cancer Institute. He holds a BSc (Med) Hons, MBBS, and PhD from UNSW, alongside FRCPA credentials. His work focuses on paediatric tumour pathology, including extracranial solid tumours, brain tumours, and Hirschsprung disease. He leads research in histopathological assessment of genetically engineered mouse models of neuroblastoma and applies anatomical pathology to paediatric precision oncology. His activities include evaluating patient-derived tumour xenografts and establishing tissue microarrays for biomarker analysis in paediatric cancers.
Research interests emphasize integrating histopathology with clinical decision-making, ensuring drug screening accuracy, and advancing therapies for childhood cancers. He is affiliated with NSW Health Pathology at Prince of Wales Hospital, contributing to both diagnostic and translational research in paediatric pathology.
