Andrew Hutcheson is a Research Fellow at the Sainsbury Institute for the Study of Japanese Arts and Cultures, University of East Anglia. His work focuses on Japanese archaeology, British archaeology, cultural heritage, and prehistoric studies. He holds roles such as Vice-President of the Norfolk and Norwich Archaeological Society and Deputy Chair of the East Anglian Archaeology Board.
He has led projects including the Later Prehistoric Norfolk Project and contributed to research funded by organizations like the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Society of Antiquaries of London. His research emphasizes community engagement and wellbeing through archaeology, with notable work at sites like Warham Camp and Arminghall Henge.
Hutcheson actively participates in academic events, including conferences of the European Association of Archaeologists and the Japanese Archaeological Association.
