Andrew Heyn is an Honorary Professor of Practice at the Senator George J Mitchell Institute for Global Peace, Security and Justice, Queen's University Belfast. A资深 senior British diplomat with over 30 years’ experience, he served as UK Consul-General in Hong Kong (2016-2020), Ambassador to Myanmar (2009-2013), and Deputy British Ambassador in Dublin (2005-2009). His expertise focuses on international diplomacy, China-UK relations, and conflict resolution in regions like Hong Kong and Myanmar.
His research interests include Hong Kong protests, Myanmar's political transition, the Rohingya crisis, and broader geopolitical issues such as US-China relations. He has extensive media engagement through BBC, Bloomberg, CNN, and published analyses in outlets like Financial Times and The Guardian.
Dr. Heyn’s work addresses contemporary global challenges, combining frontline diplomatic experience with academic insights into authoritarian regimes, sanctions policy, and transitional justice. His current affiliation with Queen’s University allows him to contribute to policy discussions on security, peacebuilding, and human rights through the Mitchell Institute.
