Associate Professor Andrew Hayen is a faculty member at the University of New South Wales, School of Public Health and Community Medicine. His research spans biostatistics, epidemiology, and public health, with a focus on statistical methods for medical applications and health policy.
Dr. Hayen graduated from the University of Sydney with First Class Honours and the University Medal for Mathematical Statistics, a Master of Biostatistics, and a PhD in mathematical statistics. His methodological expertise centers on statistical approaches for diagnostic tests, patient monitoring systems, and risk prediction models in clinical settings.
His research portfolio includes significant work in cardiovascular disease, eye health, osteoporosis, kidney disease, and blood pressure monitoring. He applies statistical methods to randomized controlled trials, observational studies, and meta-analyses, serving as study statistician for the Maintain Your Brain randomized controlled trial. His population health research utilizes time series methods to evaluate vaccination programs and temperature extremes' health impacts.
