Andrew Hauze is a Senior Lecturer in Music at Swarthmore College, where he has taught since 2006. He directs the College Orchestra and Wind Ensemble, teaches musicianship and conducting, and organizes a Lab Orchestra for student conductors. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary collaborations, such as live-scored silent films and partnerships with theater and dance departments.
- Education: B.A. in Music from Swarthmore College, A.A. from Bard College at Simon's Rock, and orchestral conducting degree from the Curtis Institute of Music.
Andrew's research interests include live film scoring, orchestral conducting, and collaborative performance projects. He has pioneered initiatives like Sounds of Cinema, combining silent films with newly recreated soundtracks, and has conducted operas such as Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti and Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice.
He has collaborated with organizations including the Delaware County Youth Orchestra (as Conductor and Music Director since 2014), Astral Artists (conducting Mozart arias and performing contemporary works), and the Bryn Mawr Conservatory of Music (as vocal coach).
