Dr. Andrew Flinn is a Professor of Archival Studies and Oral History at University College London (UCL), UK. He also serves as vice-chair of the UK Community Archives and Heritage Group. His research focuses on participatory heritage practices, community-based archiving, and archival activism. Flinn led the UCL AHRC-funded Dig Where We Stand project (2012–2013), exploring community heritage engagement. He collaborates with the UCL/University of Gothenburg Centre for Critical Heritage Studies, revisiting Sven Lindqvist's seminal work. His writing emphasizes social justice in archives and activist approaches to heritage preservation.
Key contributions include publications in InterActions and Archival Science, co-editing a special issue on activist archiving (2015), and advocating for radical public history. His work critiques traditional heritage narratives, prioritizing marginalized voices and community-driven initiatives.
