معرفی
Andrew E. Jaffe is an Associate Professor at Johns Hopkins University with multi-departmental affiliations in the Department of Mental Health, Biostatistics, Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences, Neuroscience, and Human Genetics. He is also the current VP, Head of Data Sciences at Neumora Therapeutics (2020–present), and previously served as a Lead Investigator at the Lieber Institute for Brain Development (2012–2020).
His research lies at the intersection of biological psychiatry, computational biology, and biostatistics, focusing on leveraging large human datasets to identify genomic and epigenomic signatures associated with brain development and psychiatric disorders. His work contributes significantly to understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying conditions such as schizophrenia, autism, and other neurodevelopmental diseases.
Dr. Jaffe has mentored multiple PhD students and postbaccalaureate fellows, including Kira A. Perzel Mandell, Matthew Nguyen Tran, Brianna K. Barry, Amanda J. Price, and Leonardo Collado-Torres. His research team has included key staff members such as Leonardo Collado-Torres, Arta Seyedian, and Joshua Stolz. He has secured research funding and leads data science initiatives that bridge academic and translational neuroscience.
His scientific contributions reflect a strong trend in integrative genomics, statistical modeling of brain tissue data, and the application of machine learning to psychiatric genomics. His leadership roles in both academia and industry highlight his impact in translating genomic discoveries into therapeutic development.
- VP, Head of Data Sciences, Neumora Therapeutics (2020–Present)
- Lead Investigator, Lieber Institute for Brain Development (2012–2020)
Dr. Jaffe advises several graduate students and has built a collaborative research environment involving computational scientists, geneticists, and neuroscientists. His lab has produced significant open-source tools and datasets used in the broader neuroscience community. He continues to play a pivotal role in large-scale consortia focused on brain genomics.
He is affiliated with the School of Public Health at Johns Hopkins, where his work in the Department of Mental Health emphasizes population-level genomic analysis of psychiatric conditions. His interdisciplinary approach integrates biostatistical methods with functional genomics to dissect the biological underpinnings of mental illness.
