Andrew Douglas is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at the School of Arts & Sciences, City University of New York (CUNY). He earned his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Toronto in 2006. His research spans representation theory, Lie algebras, Lie groups, mathematical physics, and computational algebra, with a focus on subalgebra classifications and their applications.
- Undergraduate Courses: MAT 1475 Calculus I, MAT 1575 Calculus II, MAT 3075 Real Analysis, MAT 3080 Abstract Algebra
- Graduate Course: PHYS 85200 Representation Theory, Lie Groups, and Lie Algebras for Physicists
Douglas’s work reveals a deep engagement with classical and semisimple Lie algebras, including structural analyses of sp(4,C), so(4,C), and E8. His collaborations extend to interdisciplinary applications in mathematical physics, notably with the Euclidean and Poincare algebras.
