Andrew Burlingame is Assistant Professor of Hebrew at Wheaton College, specializing in Northwest Semitic languages and Late Bronze Age writing practices. His research examines Ugaritic epigraphy through philological, linguistic, and historical lenses, with focus areas including textual genre classification, diplomatic correspondence, emotion terminology, and scribal culture.
Recent publications analyze administrative texts from Ugarit, toponymic identifications in Bronze Age documents, and juridical language semantics. Fieldwork includes research at the Collège de France investigating writing material properties and scribal traditions.
