معرفی
Andrew Bergen is an Assistant Professor of Biology at Taylor University, affiliated with the Biology, Environmental Science & Sustainable Development Department. His research bridges population genetics and cell biology, focusing on gene regulation, cellular function, and computational modeling.
- Education: PhD in Molecular Genetics and Genomics from Washington University in St. Louis; BS in Biology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
- Research Focus: Explores how gene regulation impacts cellular function and population genetics using budding yeast experiments and mathematical models.
- Experience: Postdoctoral work at the University of Chicago and University of Wisconsin-Madison, industry roles at arivis (Zeiss) and Perrigo.
His recent work investigates yeast stress acclimation, transcriptional repression, and mutation persistence in populations. Techniques include single-cell analysis, promoter evolution studies, and fitness plateau dynamics.
Students are encouraged to gain hands-on experience in both computational and lab-based research under his mentorship.
He is based in the Euler Science Complex 306 at Taylor University, where he integrates scientific rigor with his commitment to fostering student growth in knowledge and faith.
