معرفی
Andrew Berdahl is a Research Fellow at the Santa Fe Institute, where he investigates emergent behaviors in animal groups. His work intersects ecology, evolutionary biology, and complexity science, focusing on collective sensing, navigation, and the role of group intelligence in ecological dynamics.
- Education:
- Ph.D. in Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, Princeton University (supervised by Iain Couzin and Simon Levin)
- M.Sc. in Complexity Science, University of Calgary (supervised by Jörn Davidsen and Maya Paczuski)
- B.Sc. in Physics, University of Waterloo
His research combines experiments, empirical data, computer simulations, and theoretical frameworks to understand how simple individual interactions lead to complex group-level phenomena. He is particularly interested in the implications of collective intelligence for resource gradient navigation, migration efficiency, and ecosystem-level processes.
Andrew’s scientific awards include:
- Omidyar Postdoctoral Fellow
- Complexity Postdoctoral Fellow
