Andreea Banciu is a distinguished violist and academic, serving as a lecturer in viola at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and TU Dublin's Conservatory of Music and Drama. She is the founder and violist of the ConTempo Quartet, which has held residencies at the Royal Academy of Music London, Galway, and RTÉ. With over 3,000 performances across 40 countries, she has performed in prestigious venues like the Berlin Philharmonic and Carnegie Hall, and collaborated with renowned artists and ensembles.
Her career spans solo performances with orchestras such as the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, alongside contemporary music advocacy, having premiered over 100 works by Irish composers. She co-founded duo Anima with pianist Aileen Cahill, performing at major festivals like Clifden and Clonmel. Notable accolades include recognition from NUI Galway and Romania’s Order of Knighthood.
