Professor Hugh Tinney, Hon DMus (NUI), is a renowned pianist and educator at the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM). Since 1995, he has taught piano at all academic levels, including preparing students for degrees, diplomas, and competitions. His international career spans over 35 countries, featuring performances with orchestras such as the London Philharmonic and RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra. He specializes in classical and contemporary repertoire, collaborating with artists like Catherine Leonard and the Borodin Quartet. Tinney has premiered works by composers like Raymond Deane and Ian Wilson, emphasizing Ireland's contemporary musical contributions.
As Artistic Director of the Westport Festival of Chamber Music and former director of Great Music in Irish Houses, he promotes chamber music through festivals and tours.
