معرفی
Andreas Zezas is a Professor and Chair of the Department of Physics at the University of Crete. He holds a BSc in Physics from the University of Patras (1996) and a PhD from the University of Leicester (2002), focusing on X-ray emission from normal galaxies. Previously, he worked at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (2000–2008), analyzing X-ray data from Chandra and XMM-Newton observatories. He joined the University of Crete as an Assistant Professor in 2008, becoming Associate Professor in 2015 and Full Professor in 2020.
His research focuses on X-ray sources in galaxies (neutron stars, black-hole binaries, supernova remnants), induced star-formation in interacting galaxies, and the cosmological evolution of galaxies. He leads the A-BINGOS ERC project investigating accreting binary populations in nearby galaxies.
He serves as Chair of the Department of Physics since 2023 and is affiliated with research units like the Skinakas Observatory and the Crete Center for Theoretical Physics (CCTP).
