Prof. Dr. Andreas Wieck is a full Professor of Applied Solid State Physics at the Ruhr University Bochum, affiliated with the Faculty of Physics and Astronomy. He leads the Chair of Applied Solid State Physics, focusing on semiconductor research and device development.
Education
- Physics Diploma (Dipl.-Physiker) from the University of Hamburg (1984–1987)
- Doctorate (Dr. rer. nat.) in Physics from the University of Hamburg (1987)
Research Interests
His work spans fundamental and applied solid-state physics, with emphasis on:
- Semiconductor heterostructures
- Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) for material fabrication
- Focused Ion Beam (FIB) processing
- Terahertz spectroscopy and technologies
- Quantum dots and spintronic devices
- Low-noise GaAs heterostructures for qubit applications

His projects include completed efforts such as QuCOM, QuaHLRep, and Q.Link.X.
