Andreas Wehrenfennig

Prof. Andreas Wehrenfennig is a renowned harpist and academic, currently holding a harp class at the University of Music and Theatre Rostock since 2010. He serves as solo harpist of the Staatskapelle Halle and has been a member since 2000. His career includes roles in the Bad Reichenhall Philharmonic Orchestra and extensive chamber music collaborations, notably with the Duo Bellini. He specializes in contemporary music, performing premieres of commissioned works and participating in festivals like IMPULS-Festival for Contemporary Music.

Education:

• Studies with Germaine Lorenzini (Lyon, 1991)
• University of Music and Performing Arts Munich (1994–1998, Diplom under Prof. Helga Storck)
• Mozarteum University Salzburg (Graduation with distinction under Prof. Edward Witsenburg)

Teaching: Appointed lecturer at Georg Friedrich Händel Conservatory (Halle, 2001), Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg, and University of Music Franz Liszt Weimar. His students excel in national competitions such as “Jugend musiziert.”

Artistic Work: Regular solo performances with Staatskapelle Halle, Baroque continuo specialist in Händelfestspielorchester, and collaborations with ensembles like organ, horn, and brass quintets.
