Prof. Dr. Andreas Türler is the Research Group Leader at the Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmacy of the University of Bern, where he has been a Full Professor of Radiochemistry since 2009. He previously held a Full Professorship at the Technical University Munich (2001-2009) and led the Laboratory of Radiochemistry at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) until 2017.
- Education: Diplom Chemist (1985), PhD (1989), Habilitation (2000) from the University of Bern
His research spans nuclear chemistry, superheavy element physics, and atmospheric climate reconstruction. He develops radionuclide generator systems for nuclear medicine and studies environmental radionuclides in geoscientific contexts. His recent work focuses on radioscandium separation, photonuclear cross-section measurement, and 99mTc generator optimization.
Notable awards include the Fritz Strassmann Prize and the GSI Exotic Nuclei Community Membership Award. He has secured over 5 M EUR in grants (2002-2009) and 2.2 MCHF since 2010.
Türler has taught Bachelor and Master courses at both the University of Bern and TU Munich, mentored 14 PhD students, and served on numerous scientific advisory boards, including the Federal Commission for Radiation Protection and the Albert Einstein Center for Fundamental Physics.
