Andreas T Kern

Dr. Andreas Kern is a Teaching Professor at Georgetown University's McCourt School of Public Policy. His research focuses on the political economy of macroeconomic and financial governance, particularly central banks, credit markets, and financial crises. He earned his Ph.D. in Political Economy from Freie Universität Berlin and holds an M.Sc. in Economics from Ludwig Maximilians Universität München.

Dr. Kern's expertise includes International Political Economy, Monetary Policy, and Financial Governance. His work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to mitigating political and economic risks in sustainable development. He has received the Leslie Whittington Award for teaching excellence and contributes to policy design initiatives with international policymakers.

His current research examines IMF conditionality, central bank independence, and gendered impacts of economic policies. Prior to Georgetown, he worked as a Senior Research Fellow at Freie Universität Berlin on European integration projects for the European Commission and German government.
