معرفی
Andreas Michels is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Materials Science at the University of Luxembourg and a LINXS Fellow specializing in Functional Magnetic Materials within the New Materials Working Group 1.
His academic journey includes:
- Doctoral degree (2001) from Universität des Saarlandes, Germany
- Habilitation degree (2008) from Universität des Saarlandes
- Postdoctoral research at Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe (Germany), Paul Scherrer Institute (Switzerland), and Monash University (Australia)
Michels' research focuses on magnetic small-angle neutron scattering (SANS) methodology, applying experimental SANS to analyze spin structures in Nd-Fe-B permanent magnets, shape-memory alloys, and magnetic nanoparticles while developing theoretical frameworks to advance SANS fundamentals. His work bridges experimental physics and computational modeling in magnetic materials characterization.
His primary recognition is:
- ATTRACT research fellowship from Luxembourg's National Research Fund
Through the ATTRACT fellowship, Michels established a dedicated neutron scattering and magnetic materials research group at the University of Luxembourg, securing resources for experimental infrastructure and theoretical development in magnetic materials science.
He leads a specialized research unit conducting integrated experimental-theoretical investigations of nanoscale magnetic phenomena using neutron scattering techniques.
