Sibel Uzuncayir is a Postdoctoral Researcher in the Department of Experimental Medical Science at Lund University, Sweden, specializing in molecular biophysics. She holds a LINXS Fellowship and serves as a working group member for IPDD WG 4 – Biophysics of Drug Delivery at the LINXS International Network for X-ray and Neutron Science.
Her academic journey includes a PhD in Biomedicine from Lund University, preceded by graduate studies in Biochemistry at:
- Ruhr-University Bochum (Germany)
- Stockholm University (Sweden)
- Max Planck Institute of Molecular Physiology (Germany)
Dr. Uzuncayir's research focuses on structural characterization of mRNA lipid nanoparticles using cutting-edge techniques including Small Angle X-ray Scattering (SAXS), Small Angle Neutron Scattering (SANS), and cryo-Electron Microscopy (cryo-EM). Funded by CureVac, her work targets stabilization mechanisms critical for mRNA therapeutic efficacy. Within Lund University's Molecular Biophysics research group led by Professor Trevor Forsyth, she bridges structural biology and pharmaceutical development.
Her industry-funded project exemplifies translational research in drug delivery, with active participation in LINXS collaborative networks advancing neutron and x-ray applications in life sciences. While not independently supervising students, she contributes to team-based research within her supervisor's group.
