معرفی
Professor Andreas Lopata is a leading academic in Biochemistry at the Tropical Futures Institute, James Cook University (Singapore Campus). He holds a Professorial position and leads the Molecular Allergy Research Laboratory within the Australian Institute of Tropical Health & Medicine. His expertise focuses on food allergies, particularly seafood and shellfish allergens, with a strategic aim to enhance tropical health and safe aging through molecular immunology and biotechnology.
Education: PhD in Medical Sciences (University of Cape Town, 1995–1999), MSc in Zoology (Heinrich Heine University, 1989–1991), BSc in Biochemistry (University of Siegen, 1986–1989).
Research interests include molecular allergology, occupational allergy, diagnostics, and immunotherapeutics. His work emphasizes characterizing allergenic proteins, improving diagnostic tools, and developing therapies for food allergies. Key projects involve studying novel food allergens, alternative protein sources, and food safety in the Asia-Pacific region.
His research has led to over 200 journal articles, including groundbreaking studies on shrimp and fish allergens. He collaborates with industry partners to advance diagnostics, therapeutics, and food safety protocols. Notable contributions include identifying tropomyosin and parvalbumin allergens and developing recombinant allergen-based diagnostics.
Awards include the JCU Primary Advisor of the Year (2020) and multiple Trailblazer awards. He sits on editorial boards for journals like Clinical & Experimental Allergy and leads initiatives such as the Centre for Food Allergy Research (NHMRC CoRE).
He advises on grants and collaborates globally, with affiliations including the Centre for Molecular Therapeutics and the Australian Institute of Tropical Health & Medicine. His labs focus on cutting-edge approaches like AI-guided peptide detection and sustainable aquaculture solutions.
