Prof. Dr. Dr. Andreas Hermann serves as a Group Leader at the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE) in Rostock, Germany, leading translational neuroscience research bridging basic science and clinical applications.

His primary research focuses on molecular pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases, particularly ALS and FTD, utilizing patient-derived iPSC models to drive biomarker development (MRI/PET/fluid/behavioral), pathophysiology-based drug discovery, and characterization of prodromal stages. The group investigates brain/cognitive/motor reserves, non-motor symptoms, and conducts clinical phase 1-3 trials including antisense oligonucleotide therapies.
