Prof. Dr. Andreas Furrer is a Professor of Private Law, Comparative Law, Private International Law, and European Law at the University of Lucerne's Faculty of Law. He directs the Centre for Logistics and Transport Law (KOLT) and previously served as Vice-President for Research (2006–2010), founding and leading the primius scholarship program. His career includes roles as a consultant at Pestalozzi Lachenal Patry (2000–2007), partner at MME law firm (2007–2020), CLO at a Blockchain startup (2020–2023), and currently Special Counsel at MLL Legal AG.
Education: Graduated from the University of Fribourg (1989), Master of European Law from University of Saarbrücken (1992), doctorate from University of St. Gallen and EUI Florence (1993), admitted to the bar in 1994. He held a Swiss National Science Foundation professorship before transitioning to a full professorship at Lucerne.
Research focuses on logistics law, European legal frameworks, and blockchain regulation. Awards include the 1994 Latsis Prize. He has advised on legal frameworks for startups and led interdisciplinary initiatives, including the KMU Institute for Small Businesses (2003–2005) and primius scholarship program (2011–2020).
Professional activities include teaching, legal consultancy, and directing KOLT. His work bridges academic research and practical legal challenges in logistics, transport, and emerging technologies.
