Andrea Zappalaglio is an Associate Professor in Intellectual Property Law at the University of Leeds' School of Law. His expertise spans Trade Marks, Unfair Competition Law, IP and Sustainability, Greenwashing, and the History of Intellectual Property. He previously held roles at the University of Sheffield and the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition. His research focuses on Geographical Indications (GIs), including EU policy reforms, sustainability integration, and international trade linkages.
Education:
- PhD (DPhil) in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Oxford
- Advanced HE Fellowship
Research Contributions: His work has influenced EU GI policy reforms, with studies cited in the Explanatory Memorandum of Regulation 2023/2411. He advises the United Nations FAO and governments on IP matters. His scholarship appears in top journals like Journal of Law, Market and Innovation and GRUR International.
