Andrea Tryfonos is a Lecturer in Anatomy-Physiology at the Department of Life Sciences, European University Cyprus. Previously held post-doctoral positions at Karolinska Institutet (2022-2023) and research roles at institutions including Liverpool John Moores University and the Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital. Holds a PhD in Sport and Exercise Science from Liverpool John Moores University (2020) and an MSc in Experimental Physiology from the National University of Athens (2015).
Research focuses on vascular function in clinical populations, including heart failure patients and post-COVID-19 syndrome. Key areas include exercise physiology, endothelial cell signaling, and gene expression responses to exercise interventions. Has contributed to projects funded by CIMED, Erasmus+, and the Lars Hierta Memorial Foundation.
Published extensively in journals like Eur J Sport Sci, Applied Physiology, Nutrition, and Metabolism, and Cells. Recognized with the 2019 ACSM International Student Award and Michael L. Pollack Studentship for abstract excellence. Active in presenting at international conferences such as the American College of Sports Medicine Annual Meeting.
