Dr. Andrea Szymkowiak is Reader in User Experience (equivalent to Associate Professor) at Abertay University's Department of Cybersecurity and Computing, where she co-leads the MSc in Applied Artificial Intelligence and User Experience. Her research evaluates user interfaces using performance metrics, eye tracking, and physiological measures in applied contexts including cybersecurity, retail, and AI systems.
Current research focuses on cybersecurity interfaces, agent design, retail technology, AI interactions, food presentation evaluation, and information visualizations. She supervises PhD projects in cybersecurity and witness testimony applications.
Szymkowiak teaches courses in User Experience Research, Professional Project Planning, and Interaction Design. She has secured research funding from projects including InGAME R&D Hub, SmARtview agricultural monitoring, and EU Create Converge. Her work has been exhibited at Dundee Science Centre and featured in industry collaborations with companies like NCR.
