Professor Andrea Schapper is a Professor in International Politics at the University of Stirling, specializing in global governance, climate justice, and transnational advocacy. She holds affiliations with research groups like the Human Security, Conflict, and Cooperation team and the Centre for Environment, Heritage and Policy (CEHP). Previously, she served as a Senior Fellow at the Berlin-Potsdam Research Group and at the Centre for Global Cooperation Research in Duisburg-Essen. Her teaching roles include Programme Director of the MSc International Conflict and Cooperation and coordinator for courses like Human Rights in International Politics.
Her research focuses on international relations, climate change policy, human rights, and sustainable development. Notable contributions include work on climate justice networks, just transition litigation, and UN Sustainable Development Goals integration. She has conducted field research in Bangladesh, India, Ethiopia, and Zambia, and her advocacy spans animal welfare and children's rights in climate contexts.
Professor Schapper has received awards for innovative teaching, including the RATE Teaching Award (2019) and a Teaching Impact Award. She coordinates annual UN Geneva field trips for students and has been a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2017.
