Andrea McPherson

Andrea McPherson is a Professor of Psychology at Meredith College, combining teaching and clinical work. She holds licensure as a Psychologist and Health Services Provider in North Carolina. Her roles include Clinical Associate at Duke University Medical Center’s Pediatric Neuro-Psychology Clinic and Predoctoral Intern at Duke University Child and Family Studies Clinic.

Education: Ph.D. in Psychology (2012), M.S. (2006), and B.A. (2001) from North Carolina State University and University of North Carolina Wilmington. Professional credentials include licensure with Greenlee Psychological & Support Services.

Research focuses on child development, parenting stress, and student well-being. She mentors in the NSF-funded Initiative for Maximizing Student Diversity (IMSD) program. Her publications address financial debt impacts on students and predictors of parenting stress in abusive/nonabusive mothers.

Professional affiliations include clinical work in ADHD and pediatric neuropsychology at Duke University Medical Center and the Johnston County Public Schools Preschool Evaluation Team.
