Andrea Hofmann-Miller is an Adjunct Professor at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies (MIIS), where she has taught translation and interpretation since 1994. Originally trained in political economics, she shifted her focus to translation after encountering the field at Oxford University. As German Language Coordinator since 2010, she teaches courses like Advanced Translation, Advanced Interpretation, and Translation Practicum, emphasizing AI tools, technical precision, and professional practice. Her career includes high-profile roles such as interpreting for the U.S. State Department, German Parliament, and the Olympics since 1996.

Her research explores the influence of English on German in translation, neurolinguistics of simultaneous interpretation, and technical translation challenges in IT, legal, and medical fields. She actively works as a translator and interpreter, with early notable projects including the localization of Microsoft Windows 3.2 before the term "localization" existed.
