Dr. Andrea Dawn Frazier is a Professor and Associate Dean of Undergraduate Research at the Honors College of Columbus State University, affiliated with the Department of Teacher Education, Leadership & Counseling. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Ball State University and has a strong background in research methodology and diversity in education.
Her research focuses on the educative experiences of students of color and girls, particularly in the context of academic self-concept and possible selves. She explores how these psychological constructs influence STEM engagement among underrepresented undergraduates and high-ability African American students. Additional interests include spatial reasoning in elementary-aged children and gifted education.
Dr. Frazier has published in leading journals such as Journal for the Education of the Gifted, Gifted Child Quarterly, and Journal for Applied Social Psychology, and has contributed to influential books on counseling gifted students and career readiness among African American students. She has served as assistant editor and guest editor for the Journal for the Education of the Gifted and co-edited Special Populations in Gifted Education.
She earned her education through a Doctor of Philosophy in Educational Psychology from Ball State University (2009), a Master of Science in Human Services Administration from Spertus Institute of Jewish Studies (2004), and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Houston (1998), with minors in African American Studies and Women's Studies.
