Andrea Chute serves as Assistant Professor in MacEwan University's Faculty of Health and Community Studies, Department of Nursing Foundations and Science, where she has taught first-year theory, laboratory, and clinical nursing courses since 2008. Her pedagogical approach emphasizes humor, respect, reflection, self-awareness, collaboration, inclusivity, accountability, and responsibility to develop students' foundational competencies in communication, relational practice, critical thinking, and technical skills.
Her academic credentials include a Master of Nursing (MN) from Alberta, Bachelor of Nursing (BN), and Registered Nurse (RN) licensure. Clinical expertise spans medicine and general surgery across British Columbia, Northwest Territories, Texas, and Alberta, with management experience in continuing care recognized by the 2003 Mission Award from Caritas Health Group.
Chute's research centers on nursing education innovation, particularly stress management for nursing students through Animal Assisted Interventions (AAI).
