Andrea Christou is a PhD Student and Tutor at the School of Social and Political Science, University of Edinburgh. Her research focuses on the influence of citizen discourse on EU foreign policy decision-making in Cyprus and Ireland, employing discursive institutionalism. She co-convenes the Europa Postgraduate Research Group and serves as a Research Assistant for the Horizon-2020 ENGAGE project. Her work bridges European foreign policy, discourse analysis, and democratic legitimacy.

- Teaching: Comparative Politics in a Globalised World, International Political Economy
Research interests include EU foreign/security policy, deliberative democracy, and trade policy. Her recent publications analyze the EU’s geoeconomic turn in trade policy and coordination mechanisms for external action beyond crises. She has presented at major conferences like the International Studies Association Annual Convention and UACES Graduate Forum.
