Andrea Belczewski

Dr. Andrea Belczewski is Associate Dean of the Mi’kmaq-Wolastoqey Centre and a Teaching Professor in the Faculty of Education at the University of New Brunswick. Her work focuses on Indigenous education and decolonial approaches.

Key responsibilities include:

• Coordinating the First Nations Governance and Leadership Certificate Program
• Leading the Wabanaki Bachelor of Education Degree Program
• Teaching elementary science education methodologies

Her scholarship centers on Indigenous knowledge systems and educational sovereignty, particularly through the 'Stories of Hope' research collaborative documenting positive initiatives in Indigenous education across Canada. Current initiatives involve restructuring teacher education programs in consultation with Wabanaki communities and Elders, responding to Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action.
