Andrea Balbo

Andrea Balbo is an Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering, University of Ferrara, affiliated with the 'A. Daccò' Corrosion and Metallurgy Study Centre. He holds a PhD in Industrial Chemistry from the University of Bologna (2005) and has extensive experience in advanced ceramics and corrosion research. His teaching includes courses on Materials Science, Corrosion, and Chemistry fundamentals across multiple engineering disciplines. Research focuses on corrosion mechanisms of metal alloys, protective coatings, composite materials, and corrosion in additive manufacturing. Notable projects include PROCRAFT (aircraft heritage preservation), B-IMPACT (eco-friendly bronze coatings), and IMPReSA (sustainable concrete with recycled plastics). He advises PhD students on advanced ceramics and SLM alloys. His work bridges materials science with cultural heritage conservation and biomedical applications.
