Andrea Ayala is an Assistant Professor in Natural Resources and the Environment at the University of New Hampshire's College of Life Sciences and Agriculture, based in James Hall, Durham, NH.
Her research focuses on wildlife diseases and pathogen transmission at the human-wildlife interface. She investigates ornithological diseases, avian immunology, and the ecology of pathogens in wild bird populations. Her work has examined critical issues including Newcastle disease transmission, avian influenza outbreaks, and Vibrio infections in relation to climatic factors.
Recent publications demonstrate her interdisciplinary approach combining genomics, epidemiology, and ecology to understand wildlife disease dynamics and risks to both animal and human health.
