Andre Mount is an Associate Professor of Music Theory at the Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam. He holds a PhD in Music Theory from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he studied under Pieter van den Toorn and others. His research focuses on avant-garde music, intersections between art music and popular culture, and music pedagogy. He has published in journals like Music and the Moving Image and The Journal of Musicology, and received the Roger Chapman Prize for his dissertation chapter on Frank Zappa.

Research interests include 20th-century avant-garde practices, open educational resources (OER), and music analysis.
