Anders Tunlid serves as Professor in Microbial Ecology and Pro-Dean at the Faculty of Science, Department of Biology, Lund University. He previously held the position of Board Chair for LINXS (Lund University Neutron and X-ray Scattering), a community advancing analytical techniques in neutron and X-ray science.
His research centers on microbial processes in soil carbon dynamics, specifically investigating molecular interactions governing carbon sequestration through the Wallenberg Foundation-funded project MICCS (Molecular Interactions Controlling Soil Carbon Sequestration). This work integrates environmental microbiology, biogeochemistry, and advanced imaging to address climate change mitigation by enhancing soil carbon storage capacity.
Tunlid leads the MICCS initiative as principal investigator, directing significant resources toward developing innovative soil management strategies. The project fosters interdisciplinary collaboration between soil scientists, imaging specialists, and microbiologists to translate molecular-scale insights into practical carbon sequestration solutions.
