Anders Ringnér serves as an Associate Professor of Nursing at Umeå University, combining clinical practice at the Children and Adolescent Center of Norrlands University Hospital with academic research and teaching since 2002. He additionally holds a governance role as a member of the University Board at the Swedish Red Cross University, demonstrating dual institutional commitments to clinical healthcare advancement and nursing education policy.
His academic credentials include a Nursing degree from the Swedish Red Cross University (2001), specialization in child and adolescent health care, and a Master's degree in Nursing from Umeå University (2013) where his doctoral thesis examined information provision for parents of children with cancer. This educational trajectory established his expertise in pediatric oncology communication.
Ringnér's research critically addresses person-centered information systems in pediatric contexts, with specialized focus on sexuality in cancer care, holistic management of chronically ill children, and innovative frameworks for children's participation in healthcare decisions. His work bridges clinical nursing practice with patient-centered methodology to transform pediatric healthcare experiences, particularly for vulnerable populations facing life-altering diagnoses.
As an educator, he has supervised master's theses and doctoral candidates while developing specialized curricula in LGBTQ health and cancer sexuality education. His research is sustained by competitive funding from the Swedish Childhood Cancer Foundation and Region Västerbotten, enabling longitudinal studies on pediatric patient-family communication and psychosocial support systems.
