Anders Lyngvi Fougner

Associate Professor Anders Lyngvi Fougner is affiliated with the Department of Engineering Cybernetics at NTNU, where he has held his position since 2018. Previously, he served as a postdoctoral fellow at the same department (2014–2017). He coordinates the Artificial Pancreas Trondheim (APT) research group, focusing on developing closed-loop glucose control systems for diabetes and intensive care patients. His research spans artificial pancreas systems, mathematical modeling, system identification, and biomedical instrumentation.

• Education: PhD student (2008–2013) focused on myoelectric control of upper-limb prostheses.

Research interests include closed-loop glucose control, insulin/glucagon delivery, meal detection algorithms, and acoustic signal processing. He has supervised numerous PhD students and postdocs in diabetes technology and biomedical engineering.

Teaching responsibilities include TTK4270 Biomedical Instrumentation and Control, and supervision of master’s theses in engineering cybernetics.

Former students now work in academia, industry (e.g., ABB, Bayer, SINTEF), and healthcare tech companies.
