Anders Fridberger

Anders Fridberger is a Professor and Vice Dean at Linköping University, affiliated with the Department of Biomedical and Clinical Sciences (BKV) and Department of Cell and Neurobiology (CNB). His research focuses on the biophysics of hearing, particularly the function of inner ear sensory cells and stereocilia that convert sound into electrical signals.

• Developed fast confocal microscopy and optical flow analysis to study sensory cell mechanics
• 2022 recipient of Onkel Adam's Prize for outstanding research at the Faculty of Medicine
• Active in clinical and experimental hearing research with implications for cochlear implants and hearing Loss prevention

His work challenges established models of auditory function, revealing novel mechanisms for sound envelope detection (2018) and low-frequency hearing (2016). Recent publications (2025) demonstrate interdisciplinary collaborations in medical device development.
